What preparation is required?
No special preparation is required for these exams.
What will the sonographer do?
For this exam, an odourless, water-soluble gel will be applied to the skin on the body part to be examined. This gel helps to transmit sound waves and ensures proper contact in order to produce quality images. The gel also helps to glide the probe over the skin for maximum comfort. The sonographer will move the probe along the skin while taking pictures. The images obtained are reported by the radiologist.
This exam lasts approximately 15-30 minutes
